‘Forest Window’ by Suzannah O’Reilly photo etching and wood roll up, on Japanese paper
Outside Inside is the title of an exhibition by Newport based artist Suzannah O’Reilly which takes place at the Civic Offices in Nenagh this month. Suzannah is the fourth recipient of the North Tipperary County Council Solo Exhibition Award, which aims to support the development and promotion of new work by North Tipperary artists.
Outside Inside features prints and printed wood pieces which are made in direct response to the artist’s local environment of the Silvermines Mountains and Keeper Hill. The land, trees, mountains, horizons and hills feature prominently in these works as do the shapes and patterns they display.
Speaking about her work, artist Suzannah O’Reilly notes the influence of the Tipperary landscape on her artistic practice and resulting work: “Living in the country side your house is surrounded by the landscape and is framed through windows and doors, it can become part of the interior and vice versa, the rectangular shape of the window becomes part of the exterior. The ever changing seasonal nature of my environment gives me a rich source of material to work with and relate to my practice as an artist and printmaker. The dialogue between interior and the exterior views is the essence of the show Outside Inside”.
The exhibition will run from the 11th March to the 8th April 2011,
9.30am – 4.30pm, Monday – Friday.
