“Le Chéile” is an ongoing collaboration that brings together printmakers from Ireland, Wales and Australia. The artists, from the Leinster Printmaking Studio, Clane, Co. Kildare and the Regional Print Centre, Yale College, Wrexham, are responding collaboratively to the diversity of the cultural connections between Wales and Ireland.

Initial partnerships were formed in 2006 and visual dialogue began. Themes of land, language and place emerged as starting points. The work was, and continues to be exchanged by e-mail or post, in notebooks, as first proofs or, in some cases, by exchanging the original plates. Le Chéile is coordinated by Pamela de Brí in Ireland and by Alison Craig in Wales.

Residencies in Cill Rialaig in Southwest Ireland (2010) and Nant Gwrtheyrn in Wales (2009) have consolidated working relationships, exchanges of ideas and techniques.

Urban Retreat Gallery on Hanover Quay is operated by the Cill Rialaig Project.
